A heated clash has erupted between late-night host Jimmy Kimmel and President Donald Trump, after a joke about First Lady Melania Trump sparked outrage at the highest levels.
The controversy began when Kimmel made a remark during his show comparing Melania to an “expectant widow” — a line that quickly drew backlash, especially in the wake of a recent security scare at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Trump Calls for Kimmel to Be Fired
Trump didn’t hold back, publicly demanding that ABC take action against the comedian.
“Jimmy Kimmel should be immediately fired,” the president said, describing the joke as “beyond the pale.”
Melania also condemned the comment, accusing Kimmel of spreading “hateful and violent rhetoric” and calling on the network to “take a stand.”
Kimmel Fires Back
Addressing the controversy during his latest monologue, Kimmel defended himself — insisting the joke was clearly being taken out of context.
“It was a very light roast joke,” he said. “Obviously about their age difference… not a call to assassination.”
Kimmel also expressed sympathy for those affected by the weekend’s incident, adding:
“Just because no one got killed doesn’t mean it wasn’t traumatic and scary.”
However, he pushed back strongly against claims that his joke had any connection to real-world events, calling that idea unrealistic.
Ongoing Feud
This latest exchange is just another chapter in the long-running tension between Trump and Kimmel, who has frequently mocked the president on his show.
The White House has doubled down on its criticism, while Kimmel appears equally unwilling to back off — setting the stage for an even bigger media showdown.
