New court documents have revealed that Liam Payne’s nine-year-old son, Bear, has been named the sole beneficiary of the late singer’s estate, valued at approximately $29 million after liabilities and adjustments.
The former One Direction star died in October 2024 at the age of 31, leaving behind no will. Under UK inheritance laws, his estate is expected to pass to his only child, whom he shared with former partner Cheryl.
Bear Named Sole Heir
According to the newly released filings, Bear will inherit the entirety of Payne’s estate. While a portion of the funds may be accessible before adulthood, most of the fortune will be held in trust until he turns 18.
The arrangement is designed to protect the assets until Bear reaches legal adulthood, a common practice when significant estates are left to minor children.
Cheryl Continues Overseeing the Estate
Earlier this year, Cheryl and attorney Richard Mark Bray were officially appointed as administrators of Payne’s estate. Their role is to manage and safeguard the assets, ensuring they are handled in accordance with UK probate law.
Because Payne died without leaving a will, the administration process has followed the country’s intestacy rules, which generally prioritize children when there is no surviving spouse or civil partner.
Liam Payne’s Lasting Legacy
Beyond his financial legacy, Payne leaves behind a son he frequently described as one of the greatest joys of his life. Bear was born in March 2017 during Payne’s relationship with singer Cheryl, and the proud father often spoke publicly about the challenges and rewards of parenthood.
In past interviews, Payne admitted that becoming a father at a young age was not always easy. He said he had to grow into the role over time, learning how best to support and care for his son while balancing the demands of a global music career.
More Than a Pop Star
After rising to international fame with One Direction, Payne built a successful solo career and remained one of the most recognizable figures to emerge from the group. Friends, family members, and fans have continued to honor his memory since his death, with many highlighting his devotion to Bear above all else.
While the legal process surrounding his estate continues, the latest filings make clear that Payne’s son will inherit not only a substantial fortune but also the legacy of a father who often spoke about wanting to provide the best possible future for his child.
