Prince Harry Makes Unexpected Appearance
Meghan Markle received an unexpected surprise while appearing as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia when Prince Harry called her during filming.
The lighthearted moment aired during the July 26 episode, catching contestants and fellow judges off guard as Meghan answered the video call while tasting dishes from the competition.
A Sweet Exchange Between the Couple
As the call connected, Meghan greeted her husband warmly before introducing him to everyone in the kitchen.
Harry joked, “Have I interrupted something important?” Meghan laughed and explained that she was in the middle of judging the contestants’ dishes, adding that she wished he could sample the food because it was “really delicious.”
She also teased Harry about one particularly spicy hot sauce, saying it was probably too hot for him.
Harry Was Supporting Veterans
During the conversation, Meghan explained that Harry was in Canberra carrying out engagements with veterans, while she was filming the cooking competition elsewhere in Australia.
Before ending the call, Harry apologized for interrupting and told Meghan to enjoy the experience, saying he would see her later. The exchange was met with applause from the judges and contestants, with one participant calling the moment “crazy.”
Behind-the-Scenes Praise for Meghan
Ahead of the episode’s broadcast, former MasterChef Australia post-producer Alexandria Funnell shared comments from a current crew member describing Meghan’s time on set.
According to the producer, Meghan was friendly with the crew, had a good sense of humor, and took her judging role seriously. They also noted that her entourage was small and pleasant to work with.
A Familiar Role in the Kitchen
The appearance continues Meghan’s growing involvement in food and lifestyle projects. Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, she appeared as a guest judge on Chopped Junior, and more recently hosted the Netflix lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, where she showcased recipes, entertaining ideas, and home cooking.
Her passion for food has also been reflected through social media posts featuring recipes and family-inspired desserts.
A Return to Australia
The filming took place during Meghan and Harry’s visit to Australia in April, marking Meghan’s first trip to the country since 2018, when the couple completed their first official overseas royal tour after their wedding.
Although they stepped back from royal duties in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex continue to participate in charitable initiatives and media projects around the world.
