Actress Mindy Cohn has disclosed that she has been privately battling cancer once more and has come through the fight successfully. The former “Facts of Life” star shared the news on Sunday through an Instagram post, explaining that her recent absence from social media was due to her battle with the illness.
In a candid, all-lowercase message, Cohn expressed that she had been “off social media for awhile ‘cuz i had to go kick cancer’s ass.” She credited her medical team at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica for their support, specifically highlighting her oncology surgeon, Dr. Anton Bilchik. She also acknowledged the contributions of her nurses and close friends, describing them as her “ride-or-dies” who stand by her whenever needed.
Despite the challenges she has faced, Cohn remains optimistic. She indicated that she has a couple of weeks of recovery ahead before preparing for her “next adventure.” Her message concluded with a resolute statement: “onwards! F**K Cancer!”
This marks not the first time Cohn has confronted the disease. She was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 after experiencing significant fatigue during a walk near her home. In a 2017 interview, she reflected on the lengthy and difficult treatment process, which included radiation, chemotherapy, and ultimately a double mastectomy. After those treatments, she was declared cancer-free and resumed her career in Hollywood.
Before revealing her recent health struggle, Cohn’s last social media post was in mid-March, where she appeared smiling alongside fellow actress Melissa Peterman, showing no indication of her private battle. Her recent announcement has drawn support from fans and peers alike as she continues her recovery.
