Prince William gave a rare and emotional update about wife Catherine, Princess of Wales during a live radio interview on Friday, praising her strength following her cancer recovery journey.
Speaking on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast while visiting the Isles of Scilly, William admitted the past few years had been incredibly difficult for the royal family.
“She’s an amazing mum, an amazing wife,” William said. “Our family couldn’t cope without her.”
William Says He’s “Very Proud” of Kate
The Prince of Wales also revealed how proud he was to see Kate recently return to overseas royal duties during her trip to Italy earlier this month.
According to William, the princess had been especially excited about the visit because of her passion for early childhood development projects.
“She’s been through so much in the last couple of years,” he shared. “I’m really glad the trip went well for her.”
William added that Kate spends countless hours researching and reading reports connected to her early years initiative, joking that paperwork often takes over their bedroom at night.

While Kate has gradually returned to public engagements, William admitted the family still has to carefully balance her schedule and recovery.
“Away trips like that take a lot out of you,” he explained. “We have to make sure she’s okay and rested.”

During the interview, William also opened up about family life with their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
He joked about the chaos of school mornings, revealing Louis often leaves jam fingerprints throughout the family car while Charlotte and Louis argue over music choices.
William also mentioned that Charlotte is “obsessed” with Taylor Swift, adding that he attended the singer’s Eras Tour with George and Charlotte.
