Navarone Garibaldi Garcia, the son of Priscilla Presley, is pushing back after facing criticism over a GoFundMe campaign created to help launch his dream of selling organic pizza from his Los Angeles driveway.
The 37-year-old musician is seeking $5,500 to purchase an industrial pizza oven, saying the fundraiser will help him turn a longtime business idea into reality. But after the campaign went live, many questioned why he didn’t simply ask his famous mother for financial help.
‘I have bills too,’ Navarone says
Responding to critics on social media, Navarone said many people assume he has unlimited access to money because of his family name, but insisted that isn’t the case.
He explained that he lives on a budget like everyone else and said he doesn’t want to ask his mother to finance every business idea he has. According to Navarone, Priscilla supports the idea but he believes it’s his responsibility to make it happen on his own.
Free pizza for supporters
Navarone also clarified that donors aren’t simply giving money without receiving anything in return.
He said contributors will receive free pizza whenever they visit Los Angeles, adding that he plans to keep a list of supporters and personally honor that promise once the business is running.
He emphasized that he is investing much of his own money into the project and is only asking for help covering the remaining cost of the oven.
Clapping back at critics
After receiving messages accusing him of being privileged, Navarone defended his work history, pointing to his career as a touring musician and actor.
He also argued that many successful businesses rely on outside funding, saying investors and crowdfunding are common ways entrepreneurs launch new ventures.
Despite the backlash, Navarone remains optimistic and says he’s confident the quality of his pizza will win people over once the business opens. As donations continue to come in, he thanked supporters and said he hopes they’ll eventually stop by for a slice.
