Suri, the daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has legally changed her last name, according to voter registration records obtained by PEOPLE.

The 20-year-old is now legally registered as Suri Noelle, replacing the surname Cruise. The name Noelle is also Katie Holmes’ middle name.

Name Change First Appeared at Graduation

The legal change follows an earlier public sign that Suri had begun using the new name. During her high school graduation in June 2024, she was listed as Suri Noelle instead of Suri Cruise.

Later that year, while attending Carnegie Mellon University in Pennsylvania, she registered to vote in Allegheny County under her new legal name.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ Family History

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes welcomed Suri in April 2006, married later that year, and divorced in 2012.

Since the separation, Holmes has largely raised Suri away from the spotlight, while the young college student has maintained a relatively private life despite growing up in one of Hollywood’s most well-known families.

Katie Holmes Has Spoken Proudly About Her Daughter

After Suri graduated from high school, Holmes shared how proud she was of her daughter’s achievements.

The actress said watching Suri begin the next chapter of her life was exciting, even though she would miss having her close by as she started college.

Holmes Previously Addressed Rumors

In late 2024, Holmes publicly rejected online reports claiming Suri had received access to a trust fund from her father after turning 18.

Responding on social media, Holmes called the reports “completely false” and urged media outlets to stop publishing inaccurate information.

A New Chapter

Although Suri continues to stay out of the public eye, the legal name change marks another step as she builds her own identity while attending college.

Neither Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, nor Suri has publicly commented on the legal name change.
