T.I. says he’s ready to step away from music after more than two decades in the industry. The Grammy-winning rapper recently revealed that his latest album, Kill the King, is intended to be his final studio release, marking the end of a career that helped shape hip-hop in the early 2000s.
The Atlanta native explained that he feels he has accomplished everything he hoped for in music and is now focused on spending more time with his family.
Looking Back on a Difficult Past
Born Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., T.I. spoke candidly about his troubled youth, admitting that he became involved in criminal activity before his music career took off. Looking back, he said he wishes he had devoted more time to developing creative skills instead of making reckless decisions.
Over the years, the rapper has also faced several legal challenges, including serving a prison sentence on federal weapons charges. He said those experiences have shaped the person he is today.
A Love Story That Stood the Test of Time
T.I. also reflected on his long relationship with his wife, Tiny (Tameka Cottle-Harris). He recalled first noticing her in the early 1990s while watching the music video for Xscape’s hit song Just Kickin’ It and said he always hoped their paths would cross.
The couple eventually began dating in 2001 and married in 2010. Despite facing public scrutiny and personal challenges throughout the years, T.I. credits their enduring relationship to perseverance, faith, and supporting one another through difficult times.
Fatherhood Takes Center Stage
While music brought him worldwide recognition, T.I. says being a father has become his greatest priority. He explained that as his children have grown older, he’s learned that listening is often more important than offering advice.
