President Signals Possible Military Escalation

President Donald Trump says he is close to deciding whether to launch what he described as a “massive attack” against Iran, suggesting military action could soon intensify.

Speaking to Axios, Trump said he is weighing a strike on a scale larger than previous U.S. operations.

“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it.”

He added that while Israel would join “in two minutes” if asked, the United States is prepared to act on its own.

Fresh Strikes and Rising Oil Prices

Trump’s remarks came as the U.S. reportedly carried out another round of airstrikes against Iranian targets, marking the 13th consecutive night of military operations.

Iranian state media reported explosions in several areas, including Tehran, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, and northwestern parts of the country.

Meanwhile, global oil prices climbed back above $100 per barrel, fueled by fears that the conflict could further disrupt energy supplies.

Houthi Attacks Raise Regional Stakes

The latest escalation follows attacks by Iran-backed Houthi rebels on two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, increasing concerns about shipping through one of the world’s busiest maritime routes.

Trump warned that any future attacks on commercial shipping would bring severe consequences.

“The U.S. will hold Iran responsible… major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis themselves.”

The attacks have heightened fears that both the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, two critical global shipping lanes, could face prolonged disruptions.

Diplomatic Concerns Grow

As tensions rise, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the Middle East is being pushed toward “the edge of the unimaginable,” urging all sides to avoid further escalation.

Several countries have also begun taking precautionary measures, including reducing diplomatic staff in the region and reviewing security arrangements for commercial shipping.

Political Pressure Mounts

The growing conflict also presents political challenges for Trump at home.

Members of Congress have voiced concern over expanding U.S. military involvement, with the House recently passing a resolution aimed at limiting further military action in Iran.

Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts, both Washington and Tehran continue to exchange increasingly forceful warnings, leaving uncertainty over what comes next.
