A new Netflix documentary revisiting Michael Jackson’s infamous 2005 criminal trial has renewed public attention around some of the most disturbing allegations ever made against the late pop icon.
The documentary, “Michael Jackson: The Verdict,” explores multiple accusations of child sexual abuse that surrounded the singer for decades — including one especially shocking detail involving an accuser who allegedly described specific markings on Jackson’s genitalia before police examined him.
The Allegation That Continues to Haunt the Case
Long before Jackson’s 2005 trial, the singer faced another major investigation in 1993 involving then-13-year-old Jordan Chandler.
According to investigators, Chandler described alleged incidents involving kissing, masturbation and oral sex after befriending Jackson and spending significant time with him at Neverland Ranch.
One of the most controversial moments in the investigation came when authorities reportedly ordered Jackson to undergo a strip search in December 1993.
Investigators wanted to compare Chandler’s description of Jackson’s body — including alleged markings on his genitalia — with the singer’s actual appearance.
Former Investigator Says Descriptions Matched
In the Netflix documentary, retired investigator Rosibel Ferrufino-Smith recalled how detailed Chandler’s descriptions allegedly were during interviews with police.
“The details he was giving in the room, to me and the other officers, there was no way he could have made this up,” she said.
Ferrufino-Smith also stated investigators compared the descriptions and sketches provided by Chandler to Jackson’s body and believed they matched.
The allegations became one of the most debated aspects of the case and have continued to fuel public speculation decades later.
Michael Jackson Denied All Allegations
Jackson consistently denied sexually abusing children throughout his life.
After the strip search became public, the singer released a statement condemning the investigation and maintaining his innocence.
The case never went to a criminal trial after Jordan Chandler ultimately declined to testify.
Jackson later reached a reported $22 million civil settlement with the Chandler family, though he never admitted wrongdoing.
The 2005 Trial Reignited Scrutiny
More than a decade later, Jackson again faced criminal charges after accusations involving another child, Gavin Arvizo.
The singer was charged with multiple offenses related to alleged child molestation and providing alcohol to a minor.
During the highly publicized 2005 trial, several witnesses testified both against and in support of Jackson.
Among those defending him publicly was Macaulay Culkin, who denied ever being abused by the singer despite years of rumors surrounding their friendship.
Jackson was ultimately acquitted on all charges in 2005.
‘Leaving Neverland’ Changed Public Conversation
Interest in the allegations surged again after the 2019 HBO documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which featured detailed abuse claims from Wade Robson and James Safechuck.
Both men had previously defended Jackson during earlier investigations before later accusing him of abuse years after his death.
Their lawsuits against Jackson’s corporate entities remain ongoing.
Why the Allegations Still Divide the Public
Even years after Jackson’s death in 2009, debate surrounding the allegations remains deeply divisive.
Supporters continue pointing to his acquittal and the testimony of friends and former child companions who denied wrongdoing.
Critics argue that repeated accusations, witness statements and investigative findings continue to raise troubling questions about the singer’s relationships with children.
The renewed attention from Netflix’s documentary has once again placed one of pop culture’s most controversial and disturbing celebrity cases back into the spotlight.
