Caitlyn Jenner has spoken about difficulties she says she has experienced after her U.S. passport was reissued with a gender marker that does not match her identity documents.
In recent interviews, Jenner explained that after renewing her passport, it was returned listing her sex as male, which she says has created complications for international travel.
She stated that she had previously updated official documentation following her transition, including her birth certificate and earlier passport records, which had reflected her female gender marker.
Jenner said the change has raised concerns about travel logistics and safety, describing it as a significant practical issue when crossing international borders.
She also revealed that she reached out directly to former President Donald Trump, asking for help in resolving the matter, but said she had not yet received a response.
The situation is linked to updated U.S. federal policy on passport gender markers, which requires documents to reflect biological sex as defined under current government guidelines rather than self-identified gender in certain cases.
Under previous rules, U.S. passports allowed self-selected gender markers, including “X” for non-binary individuals, but that policy has since been restricted under recent federal changes.
Jenner, who came out publicly as a transgender woman in 2015, has remained a high-profile figure in discussions around gender identity and politics.
The renewed attention to her case has also sparked debate online, particularly given her past support for Trump and Republican policies.
At this time, there has been no public response from the White House or Trump regarding her request.
