Investigators say Elkins, 31, killed seven of his own children and another child in what authorities described as a domestic violence incident that unfolded across multiple homes.

In the days leading up to the attack, Elkins had shared what appeared to be normal and even happy moments online, including photos spending time with his children.

But behind the scenes, reports suggest a very different reality. Family members say he had been struggling emotionally, dealing with a separation, custody issues, and serious mental health concerns.

In one of his final messages, he reportedly said “Some people don’t come back from their demons,” a line that has since been widely shared as investigators try to understand his state of mind.

The attack began early in the morning and quickly escalated, with multiple victims found across different locations. Two women were also seriously injured during the incident.

After carrying out the shootings, Elkins fled the scene, carjacked a vehicle, and was later killed following a police pursuit.

The children, aged between 3 and 11 years old, were described by officials as innocent victims in one of the deadliest incidents the community has faced.

Authorities say the exact motive is still under investigation, though the case has renewed serious concerns about domestic violence and mental health warning signs.

The tragedy has left the community in shock, with families and officials calling for greater awareness and prevention efforts moving forward.
