Mulvaney Backs Kaitlan Collins After High-Profile Speech
Dylan Mulvaney has publicly shown support for CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins after President Donald Trump mentioned both women during his speech at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Mulvaney shared an Instagram Stories post featuring an inspirational quote that Collins had included in her own recap of the evening, accompanied by three white heart emojis in a gesture of support.
Trump’s Remarks Spark Conversation
During his address, Trump congratulated Collins on receiving a journalism award before questioning the recognition and making personal comments about the CNN correspondent. He also encouraged Collins to “smile,” repeating a criticism he has made previously.
The president later referenced Dylan Mulvaney while joking about the 2023 Bud Light marketing campaign that made national headlines.
Bud Light Campaign Returns to the Spotlight
Mulvaney’s partnership with Bud Light in 2023 became the center of a highly publicized political and cultural debate, leading to calls for a consumer boycott by some conservative groups.
Trump referred to the campaign during his speech and criticized the company’s decision to work with Mulvaney. While Bud Light experienced a significant sales decline following the controversy, experts have noted that a company’s market value can fluctuate for many reasons, making it difficult to attribute long-term financial changes to a single event.
Collins Responds by Highlighting Press Freedom
Following the event, Collins shared photos from the evening on Instagram and reflected on receiving her journalism award from colleague Wolf Blitzer.
She wrote that one of the night’s highlights was being recognized for her reporting while also emphasizing the importance of the First Amendment and the role journalists play in asking difficult questions of those in power.
Trump Shares Edited Image
The following day, Trump posted a digitally altered image on Truth Social that appeared to place Collins’ face onto Mulvaney’s body while holding a Bud Light beer.
The edited image quickly circulated online, generating renewed discussion across social media about the president’s remarks and the broader political debate surrounding both public figures.
Mulvaney Reflects on Moving Forward
Earlier this year, Mulvaney said she has grown significantly since the Bud Light controversy and feels she is now in a much stronger place emotionally.
She has previously spoken about focusing on her career, writing, and personal well-being while continuing to navigate life in the public spotlight.
