Gina Carano may have lost her long-awaited MMA comeback in record time, but financially, the night was still a massive win.

Carano reportedly earned more than $1 million for her fight against Ronda Rousey, even though the match lasted just 17 seconds before ending in a submission.

The highly anticipated showdown took place at California’s Intuit Dome and streamed live on Netflix as part of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions MMA event.

Rousey Finished the Fight Almost Instantly

The bout marked Carano’s first MMA appearance since 2009 and Rousey’s return after nearly a decade away from the sport.

Fans barely had time to settle in before Rousey secured one of her signature armbars and forced the fight to end almost immediately.

According to reported payout figures released after the event, Rousey earned approximately $2.2 million while Carano received around $1.05 million. Those figures reportedly do not include possible bonuses, sponsorships, or additional revenue tied to streaming and ticket sales.

Carano Says Simply Returning Was a Victory

Despite the quick defeat, Carano said returning to the cage after such a long absence still felt meaningful.

Following the fight, she admitted she hoped the contest would last longer because she felt physically prepared and wanted the opportunity to truly compete again.

Still, she described the comeback itself as a personal victory after spending 17 years away from professional MMA.

Rousey Hints This Was Her Final Fight

Rousey later suggested the event likely marked the official end of her fighting career.

Speaking after the victory, she explained that she had promised her husband, former UFC fighter Travis Browne, that the comeback would be “one and done.”

She added that she now wants to focus more on family life and raising children rather than continuing to fight professionally.

Why the Fight Is Getting So Much Attention

Beyond the quick finish, the event sparked huge discussion online because of the enormous payouts involved.

Many fans were stunned that Carano earned more than $1 million despite the fight lasting less than half a minute.

Others pointed out that the event highlighted how major streaming platforms and celebrity-driven promotions are changing combat sports economics.

And while the actual fight was over almost instantly, the conversation surrounding the payday is likely going to last much longer.
