Lauren Silverman has spoken candidly about the difficult period when she discovered she was pregnant with Simon Cowell’s child while still married to her former husband, describing it as one of the most challenging experiences she has ever faced.
Appearing on the Happy Mum podcast, the 48-year-old entrepreneur reflected on the events that ultimately led to the end of her first marriage. While she says she has no regrets about where life led her, she admits she wishes the situation had unfolded differently.
A Life-Changing Turning Point
Silverman explained that the pregnancy came during a deeply emotional time, bringing both excitement and heartbreak. She said the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy resulted in significant pain for those involved, including her former husband and their son.
Despite the difficulties, she believed her relationship with Simon Cowell was meant to be and felt certain he was the person she wanted to spend her life with.
Media Attention Made Pregnancy Difficult
The couple welcomed their son Eric on February 14, 2014, but Lauren says she was unable to fully enjoy the experience of being pregnant because of the intense media scrutiny.
She recalled feeling constantly judged as headlines about her personal life dominated tabloids and magazines. Rather than celebrating the upcoming arrival of her son, she spent much of the pregnancy trying to cope with public attention and criticism.
Relationship With Ex-Husband Has Improved
More than a decade later, Silverman says she and her former husband, Andrew Silverman, now maintain a positive relationship. Looking back, she wishes she could remove the pain the situation caused but accepts that the events cannot be changed.
She described the divorce as a terrible experience at the time but said the family has moved forward over the years.
The Moment Simon Became a Father
One memory that remains especially meaningful for Lauren is watching Simon Cowell meet their son for the first time.
She recalled seeing an emotional side of the television personality and said becoming a father transformed his life in ways he could not have anticipated. According to Lauren, parenthood brought a major shift in Cowell’s priorities and outlook.
Looking Back Years Later
Today, Lauren views the period as a painful chapter that ultimately shaped the life she has built with Cowell and their son. While she acknowledges the hurt caused by the circumstances, she believes the experience led her to where she was meant to be.
