Newly released police documents and bodycam footage are offering a closer look at what happened when Britney Spears was arrested earlier this year in Ventura County, California.
According to the report, officers claimed the pop star appeared disoriented at times, spoke “nonsensically,” and displayed what authorities described as sudden mood changes during the March traffic stop.
The newly revealed details have quickly reignited public discussion surrounding Spears’ personal struggles and life after her conservatorship ended.
Officers Say Spears Displayed Unusual Behavior
Police records state that Spears alternated between being emotional, confrontational, and unusually friendly during the encounter.
At one point, she reportedly invited officers back to her home for food, saying she would make them “lasagna or whatever you want” and mentioning that she had a pool.
The report also claimed Spears occasionally spoke with a British accent and shifted rapidly between moods while interacting with officers.
Breathalyzer Results Were Below Legal Limit
Despite initially being stopped under suspicion of driving under the influence, Spears reportedly recorded blood alcohol readings below California’s legal limit.
According to the documents, she blew .05 and .06 on separate breathalyzer tests, under the state’s .08 threshold.
However, officers later claimed a drug recognition evaluation suggested she may have been under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant.

Medication Found During Arrest
The report states officers discovered Adderall in Spears’ purse that allegedly was not prescribed to her.
Spears reportedly told police she also takes Lamictal, a medication commonly prescribed for epilepsy and bipolar-related mood episodes.
In footage from the stop, she allegedly admitted she used Adderall because it helped keep her “elevated.”
The singer has previously spoken publicly about using Adderall during difficult periods earlier in her life, including in her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me.
Legal Outcome and Treatment
Earlier this month, Spears pleaded guilty to a reduced “wet reckless” charge rather than a DUI offense.
She was sentenced to 12 months of summary probation, fined, and ordered to complete a DUI education program.
As part of the agreement, Spears also reportedly agreed to regular visits with both a psychologist and psychiatrist.
Officials noted that her lack of prior DUI history, low alcohol level, and absence of injuries or crashes likely contributed to the reduced charge.
Renewed Attention Around Britney’s Health
The case has once again placed attention on Spears’ mental health journey, which has remained a topic of public discussion for years following her highly publicized conservatorship battle.
Supporters online remain divided between concern for the singer’s wellbeing and criticism over the release of such personal details.
For many fans, the newly released footage paints a complicated picture of a star still navigating life under constant public scrutiny.
