Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized and is currently in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesperson.
The 81-year-old former New York City mayor was admitted to hospital over the weekend, although officials have not disclosed the cause of his condition or how long he has been receiving treatment.
In a statement, spokesperson Ted Goodman described Giuliani as a “fighter,” adding that he is facing this latest health battle with the same resilience he has shown throughout his life.
The update comes just days after Giuliani appeared on his online show, where he mentioned feeling “under the weather” and spoke with a noticeably strained voice.
Giuliani, who served as mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, became widely known as “America’s Mayor” for his leadership in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
In more recent years, he has remained a controversial political figure due to his role as a legal adviser to Donald Trump, particularly surrounding efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 U.S. election.
Supporters, including Trump, have publicly expressed their backing, describing Giuliani as a “true warrior” amid his hospitalization.
At this time, no further medical details or prognosis have been released, and the situation remains ongoing.
