Sharon Stone has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she realized her marriage had effectively ended while facing a terrifying health scare.

The “Basic Instinct” actress recently recalled being told by doctors that suspicious masses discovered in her breast could potentially be cancerous. During an emotional appearance on “The Person Who Believed In Me” podcast, Stone explained that the experience became a turning point not only for her health, but also for her relationship.

Stone, now 68, did not directly name her former husband during the interview, although she appeared to reference journalist Phil Bronstein, whom she was married to from 1998 until 2004.

Health Scare Became A Breaking Point

According to Stone, doctors strongly recommended she undergo a bilateral mastectomy after discovering several masses, one of which she said was larger than her entire left breast.

Although medical professionals warned the tumors could be cancerous, Stone said she felt determined to make her own decisions regarding treatment and surgery.

She recalled telling doctors she wanted to move forward with the procedure rather than risk delaying treatment. However, she claimed her husband reacted negatively to her decision.

Stone alleged that he dismissed her choice as “ridiculous” before leaving the room during the discussion with doctors.

“That Was The End Of The Marriage”

The actress said the moment permanently changed the dynamic of the relationship.

“That was the end of the marriage,” Stone explained during the podcast. “You could just tell it was over in the room.”

She claimed her husband believed she was making too many decisions independently and did not support her handling of the situation.

According to Stone, the doctor defended her right to make her own medical choices and reminded her husband that the final decision belonged to her.

Tumors Were Ultimately Benign

Following surgery and further testing, doctors later confirmed the tumors were benign and not cancerous.

Stone has spoken openly in recent years about several personal health battles, including surviving a near-fatal stroke in 2001 that dramatically impacted both her career and personal life.

The actress has increasingly used interviews and public appearances to discuss resilience, recovery, and the challenges women often face when advocating for their own healthcare decisions.

Her latest comments have sparked conversation online, with many fans praising Stone for speaking candidly about personal struggles and the importance of self-advocacy during medical crises.
